This is my about me page. My name is Ian, I’m an avid guitar player, and some what of a hack song writer. I started playing guitar when I was probably 12 or 13, but wasn’t until my twenties that I really started to take it seriously and wanted to improve my ability not only to play popular songs, but I wanted to be able to read music, play along with others (I didn’t feel I was at a level where I was capable of jamming with others), and start to write some of my own stuff.

Along the way I took lessons from a couple of professional instructors, one included my father, didn’t go over so well I think we actually only had one lesson together.  I enjoyed the interaction with the teacher each week but I found that my knowledge wasn’t progressing at the speed I wanted it to. I’d learn one or two new things each week, go home and practice them and then go back and do the same next week. It was just taking to long to learn new stuff.

This was when I started looking for a “teach myself” alternative. I had a few VHS tapes, and books I had bought over the years, although I found they didn’t offer a really good lesson structure (i.e. Do this, which leads to this, and so on). What I wanted was something I could use to teach myself but each lesson built on the next, it had a logical sequence to it I could use to improve my playing.

My trial and error of searching for a quality product that taught me what I wanted to learn is what helped me develop this website. I’m the author, web master, marketer, and everything else for LearnGuitarToday.info. So if you have any questions about what product is right for you, or about my site in general be sure to shoot me an email. Other then that enjoy what I’ve put together here and I hope you can find your way in learning to play guitar based on the information and articles I’ve compiled on my site.

Happy Jamming!

Ian
