Jamorama Review – Is this inexpensive learn to play guitar course for you?

jamorama box imageThis is the first ebook slash digital download learn to play guitar product I’ve reviewed. I was a little unsure what to expect after reading numerous Jamorama reviews on the web, and most of them appearing to give it nothing but praise. How ever, praise was really all the other reviews online gave Jamorama. There was no real critique of the product, or mention of who it’s good for, and who it’s not. So I’ve set out to get the product, test it out for myself and give my honest feedback.

Initial Thoughts?

The Jamorama course is well put together (not as well as something such as Learn and Master Guitar but it’s 1/5th the cost). It comes with a variety of videos, audios, and digital materials (mainly pdf files), and a members only website. The ebook files and members only section of Jamoramas website make up the lessons (there are 84 of them) and integrate the audio and video files when needed to strengthen your understanding of a particular topic. Depending on how you learn either reading something or watching a video this approach may work well for you.

Jamorama covers guitar basics like how to hold the guitar, correct left hand position, and strumming techniques very well. There isn’t much content about musical theory, reading music, or playing lead. If you’re looking for something to teach you scales, lead, and theory this product isn’t targeted at you.

Jamoramas approach to teaching you basic chords, and strumming techniquess is good. If you’re someone who wants to learn to play some songs sooner then later I think there’s good value in this course for you.

Video and Audio Quality

The videos are done well and Ben, the instructor, is well versed in guitar. While I’ve seen better quality instruction videos in different dvd sets and online guitar lessons for what you’re paying to get Jamorama the videos over deliver. There are 84 video files in all, and over 400 audio files and clips. There are also 16 file for practice and jam-a-long purposes (I’m a big fan of jam-a-long tracks for practice), these really help you strengthen what you learn in a play-a-long setting rather then just on your own.

Buy or Don’t Buy Jamorama

I wasn’t blown away by the content, but I did feel there was enough there to justify the cost of Jamorama. While I think it’s best suited to beginner guitar players who want to learn the basics and start strumming chords as quickly as possible, there is some content in there for intermediate players who might have taught themselves without any formal instruction at all. Over all would I suggest it’s a buy? For those of you that want to start playing fast for the lowest cost possible yes, I would reccommend buying Jamorama. How ever if you are interested in theory, learning scales, and lead techniques I’d hold off and either opt for a specific product like Jamorama Lead, or a more in depth course like Learn and Master Guitar.
