Learn and Master Guitar Review

learn and master guitar packaging Learn and Master guitar hasn’t produced just another guitar lessons dvd. They have raised the bar on musical home study courses, and provided the most detailed, and precise guide to learning guitar at home I’ve ever seen.

Learn and Master guitar consists of 10 dvds (2 sessions per dvd), 5 jam along cds, and a 107 page lesson book. Instructor Steve Krenz is a well respected studio guitar player, who has toured with Grammy award winning artists, and played on numerous studio albums.

The program starts with the most basic instruction in session 1 and works it’s way up to major and minor scales, soloing, and chord formulas in session 20. There is well over a year worth of material for intermediate guitar players, and quite possibly up to two years for beginners.

What makes Learn and Master guitar so different from other Learn Guitar Products?

The attention to detail in each lesson, and the way each lesson builds on the previous one allows this course to mimic the learning experience with a private instructor as closely as possible. This makes Learn and Master Guitar a quality alternative to private guitar lessons.

Compared to other learn guitar courses no other guitar course provides as much in depth instruction, or teaches such advanced techniques. You would need several other products to provide you with the same amount of guitar learning content as Learn and Master Guitar.

The 20 sessions cover a wide range of topics in a logical order including:

The format of each lesson is well thought out, you first watch the dvd session, then review the material in the lesson book and do the practice assignments. Each session has a suggested time for mastering the topic, then you move onto the next session. This is the same process you would follow in private guitar lessons, except the video is your teacher.

While I was doing this Learn and Master guitar review the top notch video quality really jumped out at me. The video provides close up screen shots when required for technical aspects of chords, notes, and everything else done on the guitar neck. Each session is broken down into smaller pieces on the dvd that you can easily navigate to from the main dvd menu. This makes it easy to find a particular point covered in a previous lesson if you need a refresher.

For me the nicest aspect of the course was being able to learn at my own pace, practice when I could, but take longer to complete some sections if I just didn’t have the time to commit for a week or two. Being able to refresh on previous topics was great, and something you can’t easily do without costing you money if you’re taking private lessons.

Who should be buying Learn and Master Guitar

I don’t think Learn and Master Guitar is for everyone. While there is an enormous amount of material covered those that don’t have the patience to follow along and do the lessons in order might not see the progress they expect. It does take discipline to practice and follow along in order of the sessions.

Also well advanced players might find the first several lessons boring. There is still content there for advanced players, but I don’t think they would get as much value out of the course as a beginner or intermediate player would.

For anyone looking for a learn guitar quick solution, this isn’t it. There are digital download ebooks available that state you can learn your favorite songs in a weekend. If you’re looking to learn a couple of chords and play a song or two around the campfire, Learn and Master Guitar probably isn’t for you. Although, if you’re a beginner I don’t believe any product can teach you guitar in a weekend.

The people that should strongly consider this course are those that are considering taking private lessons, this package is a very good alternative for less money. Also those that are serious about learning how to play guitar well (when I say well, I mean not just strum a few chords, but learn scales, how to solo, and play along with others).

Learn and Master Guitar is a complete road map for those that want to learn guitar the right way. It takes discipline and practice time, but because it’s a home study course you can do so at your own pace. With private guitar lessons you find yourself paying $20 to $30 bucks for a half hour each week whether you’ve had the chance to practice or not.

If you compare the cost of private lessons for a year

1 half hour lesson per week * $20 per half hour lesson * 52 weeks = $1040 per year

Compare that to the $249 price tag on Learn and Master guitar for over a years worth of instruction and you make your own decision.
